Heart Over Circumstance: Fonder FC Closes the Summer in Asheboro

Fonder FC continued to battle through every challenge at the North Carolina Cup in Asheboro.

Fonder FC wrapped up its 2026 summer tournament season yesterday at the North Carolina Cup 7v7 in Asheboro—and the final day tested our players in just about every way possible.

Both Pinnacle and Apex dealt with injuries, no substitutes, playing down players, lineup changes, and even backup goalies!

Players and coaches were forced to adjust throughout a demanding day of competition.

Nothing about the day was easy.

But the response from our players was exactly what we hoped to see.

The players continued to push forward, support one another, and compete through every challenge.

They adjusted. They supported one another. They kept competing. Most importantly, they continued to represent Fonder FC with effort, respect, and character, even when the results or circumstances were not going their way.

Pinnacle entered its final match with an opportunity to qualify for the championship game. In a back-and-forth battle, playing a man down, the team came up just short in a 4–3 loss. Missing the final by such a narrow margin was difficult, but the performance showed how far this group has come. They continued fighting until the final whistle and gave themselves a legitimate chance to advance despite everything they had already battled through.

Pinnacle remained in contention for a place in the final until the closing moments of the tournament.

The tournament was also a reminder that development is about far more than wins and trophies. It is about learning how to respond when a teammate is injured, when the lineup has to change, when fatigue sets in, or when the game does not unfold as planned.

Whenever possible, Fonder FC players showed up for one another—watching, encouraging, and supporting their teammates across the club.

Yesterday, our players showed heart.

This tournament officially closes the first Fonder FC summer season. What began as an opportunity to give players more touches, more games, and more chances to compete became something much bigger. Friendships were built. Confidence grew. Players accepted new challenges and discovered what they were capable of accomplishing together.

To every player who wore the crest this summer: thank you for your commitment, courage, and effort.

To every parent who drove, supported, encouraged, organized, photographed, and trusted us with your player: thank you for making this possible.

And to our coaches and volunteers who gave their time and energy throughout the summer: thank you for helping create an environment where players could compete, grow, and enjoy the game.

The summer tournament season may be over, but Fonder FC is only getting started.
